Obesity Is Now Described As A Disease: Roworx Fitness And Juice Plus Can Be The Answer

The American Medical Association confronted some weighty issues at its annual meeting in Chicago a few months ago. In one of the biggest policy change on weight and health to date, the AMA recognized obesity as a disease.

By changing obesity’s status from a major public health problem to a chronic disease various members of the AMA said that the organization hoped to open up the range of medical interventions that could help the one-third of Americans now considered obese. Parents need to encourage an active and healthy lifestyle anyway they can as more children are not an exception to the rule when it comes to obesity and diabetes. The more education about healthy decisions that a children can make on their own… the better their own future will be. Activities are great, however, if you feed children junk food they are literally poisoning there bodies with high sugar, fat, and cholesterol. You wouldn’t put bad gas into a high performance vehicle in order to preform well, so why would you do that to your own body and to your children.

Along with diet comes exercise and the Roworx Fitness program offers a group exercise that’s low-impact, high efficiency, and great for building strength and endurance. Roworx also utilizes the Concept2 Rowing Machine and light dumbbell weights. Our clients span all experience levels, ages and abilities. Rowing is a total-body sport which builds both cardiovascular endurance and strength through repetitive resistance training. Few other sports can provide the total body benefit that rowing does. Rowers create their own resistance on the machine, and your class will be as intense as you want it to be. Anyone can do it! You row at your own pressure/resistance. Our instructors will make sure that you are on pace with the group, and will take you through various workouts. A fun, energetic, 1 hour long heart pumping workout includes a warm-up, a few drills for technique, the “body” of the work (i.e. intervals, short races, or pyramids), and a cool down. The ability to control your own resistance allows you to maintain rhythm with the group, while selecting your own difficulty level.

Dr. Mitra Ray, PhD, Stanford University, Bio-Chemist: Talks About Exercise Induced Oxidative

Stress, exercise, and diet all play vital roles in the way our body can function at the best levels possible. Typically, when a person decides that they are ready to take their health seriously, one of the first things they’re taught is to begin to exercise. There’s all sorts of logic to this, as the benefits of exercise are dramatic, however it’s actually not the first thing a person should do when they set out to get healthy. For many people adding exercise to their lives is easier than dramatically changing the way they eat. And we have been taught that if you exercise enough, you can eat just about anything to stay healthy. If you exercise enough, you may be able to keep the scale weight stable, but again that’s not necessarily ‘healthy.’ In fact you may become unhealthier in certain ways if you exercise vigorously but don’t eat the right food. As we get older our bodies start changing and our metabolisms slow down resulting in weight gain.

Health experts have recommended 10 lifestyle changes, including quitting drinking and limiting the consumption of processed meats, to prevent 12 different cancers linked to obesity in a major new report. The World Cancer Research Fund (WCRF) assessed decades-worth of evidence and found an association between obesity and cancers of the stomach, mouth and throat, liver, ovary, bowel, gallbladder, kidney, esophagus, pancreas, and womb.

Here are some easy ways I have begun to fight back and take control of my diet….

Attack Strategy #1 GET MORE FRUITS AND VEGGIES

A recent story in Health Magazine one of the biggest most controversial topics’ is discussed: Are Natural Cures Bad For Your Health? They’re everywhere. But does that mean they’re safe? Here’s what you need to know before you hit your local health-food store.

*Talk to your doctor before buying certain supplements to find out which ones are safe and effective. It’s also a good idea to consult the store pharmacist, who might be more aware of potential adverse events and

* Shop selectively at big-chain drugstores, pharmacies, or supplement stores. Try to avoid products from Chinese manufactures. Lack of regulation and poor manufacturing practices in China mean their goods may be more likely to be contaminated with substances like lead.

* Check for a USP Verified Mark to show that the product actually does contain the ingredients listed on the label in the amounts specified and doesn’t contain unacceptable levels of contaminants.

* Don’t bargain hunt! A study taken in 2003 at the University of Minnesota analyzed 880 products and found that for six types of herbal products, the more expensive the supplement was, the more likely it was that the recommended dosage would be consistent with established standards. It’s hard for manufacturers to have high-quality product at low prices.

* Pick! Single-ingredient supplements. Most single-item products, like a simple vitamin or an individual mineral, are good. It’s when you are dealing with a supplement with several ingredients that things have more potential to go wrong.

* Skip! Weight-loss, sexual enhancement, and bodybuilding supplements which are often adulterated with prescription medications, steroids, or compounds chemically similar to prescription drugs. Also skip multi-herbal supplements which are more likely to run into problem with quality. It’s also difficult to determine the effect that multiple herbs will have on your health due to potential interactions.

3) Rx: Remedies To Try

* Not all supplements are bad news. Here are a few that Dr. David Katz, director of the Yale Prevention Research Center recommends:

* Vitamin D is great if you’re deficient (your doctor can test to see) Dr. Katz advises taking 1,000 to 2,000 IU per day.

* Omega-3 oil can help reduce the risk of heart disease, Dr. Katz says. His Favorite: The new Omega blend capsules by Juice Plus. You can find out more information here

* Calcium is essential as well if you feel that you don’t get three servings of dairy a day. Supplement 1,000milligrams every day.

* Whole-food-based supplement. Dr. Katz suggests one of these, such as Juice Plus+ (www.jnunnjuiceplus.com), instead of a multivitamin if you can’t fit in five servings of produce a day. I personally have taken Juice Plus+ for three years and it has had a very positive effect on my daily life. The recent addition of the Vita Mix paired with the Juice Plus+ whole-food-based supplement in my diet has been an amazing life-changing experience.

Bottom line. We need to get physical activity back into everyone’s lives, starting with our kids. We need to get them moving in school and after school. We need to get them eating healthy foods in appropriate amounts. That is where the conversation should be focused, not on whether this is a disease. Continuing its message of obesity awareness, the AMA also issued a statement against prolonged sitting and encouraged Americans to try different alternatives to sitting, such as standing desks, treadmill desks and walking meetings. Prolonged sitting, particularly in work settings, can cause health problems. Encouraging workplaces to offer employees alternatives to sitting all day will help to create a healthier work force. Medical experts have long recognized that sitting for hours on end is not as benign an activity as it seems. Studies find that after four hours of sitting still, the genes and enzymes regulating the amount of glucose and fat in the body start to shut down so that fat in the blood stream is captured and stored by fat cells all throughout the body, especially around the organs. The recommendations included: being a healthy weight; exercising; eating grains, veg, fruit and beans; avoiding high calorie foods; limiting the consumption of red and processed meat and sugar-sweetened drinks, as well as cutting out alcohol. The WCRF also warned against relying on dietary supplements and emphasized the benefits of breastfeeding babies. Regularly drinking sugar-sweetened drinks was linked to cancer because it can cause weight gain and obesity, the experts said. But being physically active was found to directly protect against cancers of the bowel, womb and, post-menopause, breast, as well as cutting the wider risk of developing other cancers. Mirroring a 2015 World Health Organization warning that linked the consumption of processed and red meats to forms of cancer including bowel, the report recommended a diet featuring whole grains, vegetables, fruit and pulses. Red meat should be limited to no more than three portions (350 to 500g cooked servings) a week to prevent bowel cancer, the WCRF said. Alcohol, meanwhile, was strongly associated with cancer of the breast, liver, mouth, bowel, throat, esophagus, and stomach.

How many people actually eat 7-13 servings of raw fruits and vegetables every day? Some Americans may eat an orange with breakfast and maybe an apple with lunch and finish one or two cooked vegetables at dinnertime. However, many fall short of the quantity of fruits and vegetables that are recommended.

Here are some FAQs about the Juice Plus+:

What is Juice Plus+?

Juice Plus+ is more than extra vitamins and minerals. It is actually a whole food based supplement. The fruit capsules are made from apples, oranges, pineapples, cranberries, peaches, cherries, papayas. The vegetable capsules are made from carrots, parsley, beets, kale, broccoli, cabbage, oat bran, rice bran, spinach, and tomatoes. There is also a “berry blend” made from 25 fruits, vegetables, grains and berries including concord grapes.

How is Juice Plus+ made?

The fresh fruits and vegetables are juiced and then dehydrated to a powder form. It’s carefully tested to ensure no pesticides or other contaminants are present in the product. It is never exposed to high temperatures that would destroy the nutritional value of the fruits and vegetables. When re-hydrated with water, the nutrients are absorbed into our bodies as if we had gotten them directly from the fruits and vegetables themselves.

Is there any scientific proof that Juice Plus+ really works?

To my knowledge, no other nutritional product in history has been subjected to as rigorous scientific investigations as Juice Plus+, which has been investigated by scores of scientists at leading hospitals and universities all over the world. The results of more than 25 such studies have already been published in peer-reviewed scientific journals – and numerous other studies are currently underway. The published studies indicate that Juice Plus+ delivers   many beneficial health results from clinical research.
