Powerhouse Fitness Is Now Roworx Fitness
At Roworx we have the high quality and quantity of highly trained fitness professionals with us. Over the last couple years we have had at least 5 different Olympic Rowers teach our indoor rowing classes at Powerhouse Fitness. This is what Roworx Fitness strives for with excellence in fitness and nutrition. Most trainers/instructors have qualified certifications but only a few have the actual high level of fitness experience to really get you motivated to train and be at your best. I have always believed you need to practice what you preach and in fitness if I have an overweight trainer guiding me through a workout I’m not going to be motivated at all. If I had an Olympian training me I would be honored and encouraged to work harder than I ever thought possible. Knowing what it takes to become an Olympian and being involved with the National Team for any sport is incredible. In my opinion the amount of hard work and training it takes to be recognized to be on the U.S. National Team is still harder than completing all 3 of my Full Ironman competitions combined. The difference is you have to qualify yourself to be recognized as the best. Many trainers will do an extreme competition just to say they did it and anyone can sign up. Being an Olympian, the few and far between, and having the honor to be trained by one is a chance of a lifetime. Take that opportunity and train with us at ROWORX in Long Beach and see what everyone is talking about.
At Roworx we train along the Historic Marine Stadium Waterfront. Inside the Pete Archer Boathouse located at 5750 Boathouse Lane you will find a beautiful training facility right on the water and perfect to meet the needs of any indoor rowing class size. Located in Alamitos Bay southeast from Loynes Drive at Marina Vista Park, the site was acquired in 1923 in a purchase that included Recreation Park and Colorado Lagoon. The stadium became the site for the 1932 Olympic Rowing competition and the 1968 Olympic rowing trials. Marine Stadium was recently designated as an official state historic site. Enjoy breathtaking sunsets along the waterfront at Marine Stadium as we row to heart pumping beats to the music. There are so many success stories and incredible testimonials of so many different past and present ROWORX members who have lost over 40 pounds. Accomplish your fitness and nutrition goals sooner while burning tons of calories as you row and train your body to a new YOU!

One of the best attributes of ROWORX is the availability and access to all of the small personalized classes that we have to offer during the week. With over 20 classes a week to choose from you can get your workouts in without the hassle of dealing with all of the larger gym crowds. In addition, everyone at Roworx helps each other by pushing each other and motivating everyone together to create some serious energy during class.
Group Fitness Is The Best Fitness!
Who has the time to workout, train, and be disciplined on fitness on their own? Studies show that we are motivated to work harder, show up more often, and push further past our perceived limits when training in a group. The results of one study suggest that endorphin release is significantly greater in group training than in individual training; this seems to be the case even when the individual’s power output, or physical exertion, is the same. Not only is it more fun to exercise with others, but it is safer and more efficient to exercise under the leadership of a good coach. With the help of our amazing instructors you are sure to have a great time in any of our four class programs that we have to offer. Jack Nunn compares the sport of rowing to golf — anyone can do it, and it appears easy, but there’s a learning curve. However, Nunn said rowing has a fast learning curve.
Nunn’s business, Roworx, is celebrating grand opening on June 2013 and currently has 120 members. Nunn, a former National Team rower and son of John Nunn, Olympic bronze medalist for rowing in 1968, said he’s been enjoying the sport since the age of 5. After years of winning races on the National Team, Nunn decided to teach.
“What I really wanted to do was offer indoor rowing and bootcamp classes in order to offer the perfect full-body, fun, and energetic high-calorie burn workout!”
ROWORX kicked off its indoor rowing classes this month. The Boot Camp classes will be at 8AM on Monday-Wednesday-Friday-And Saturdays and combine a variety of exercises on the lawn near the Boathouse parking lot overlooking Marine Stadium in Long Beach. Class instructors range from Olympic athletes to rowing newbies who caught on quickly. With Nunn’s philosophy of positive reinforcement, the entire team is behind each individual’s success. The first class is free for newcomers.
Roworx currently has one location.
The “Boathouse” is at 5750 Boathouse Lane in Marine Stadium
