Roworx vs “Other Gyms”
Now that we are approaching the spring season I thought this would be a great time to discuss the difference between Roworx and the “other gyms” that people have to choose from. I had received an email a few days ago from a few Roworx & Gold’s Gym Members about the impact that our specialized rowing instructors had made on their lives.
Here is what they had to say:
“I have worked out since my graduate school days (won’t say how long ago that was– but it’s been a minute). I have been a member of many gyms, Holiday Health Spa which became Bally’s back when step aerobics was the rage. Loved it. Gold’s gym when Spinning became the rage. Loved it. But I have never been a part of a….) I hate to call Roworx a ‘Gym’ because it is so much more than that) let me call it a fitness program as special as Roworx. A fellow workout person from Gold’s actually introduced me to rowing about two years ago. I went as a guest on a Saturday morning and I was hooked. The woman who taught the class was a former Olympic rower (Katrin Gleie), and the workout was magnificent. I signed up right then and there. What I liked was that it was a total workout. When done, I truly felt like I had worked every muscle in my body. Though I love SPIN, I still had to do weights to workout my upper body and then of course do abs. A rowing workout at Roworx works everything. At first I kept my membership at Gold’s and just rowed on Saturday. Then I felt like Saturday wasn’t enough so I started going once during the week and then on Saturday. Then, that didn’t feel like enough. So, I started going Mon-Thurs and again on Saturday’s. Consequently, I am giving up my Gold’s membership because I no longer go there. The other benefit, aside from the great workouts, are the people. I have met the most wonderful people, instructors, and workout buddies that have become lifelong friends. I look forward to seeing them. We encourage each other to become better rowers and also celebrate with each other outside of working out. We are a Roworx family!! In my opinion, Roworx is worth being a part of if you are looking for a fitness lifestyle and a genuinely great group of people to share it with.” – Shirley Owen
“What a difference Roworx has made for me! I have been a member of many different gyms over the years (Gold’s Gym, Spectrum, 24Hr Fitness). I can honestly say that Jack Nunn has something special and unique at Roworx. Roworx offers a personal setting with trained instructors who are top notch in their field. The spin classes are challenging, motivating, and gratifying. Indoor rowing is always exciting and invigorating while offering something new and fun. Thanks to Roworx I am inspired to work out harder than I ever have. Thank you to Jack and all the staff at Roworx!” -Marisa Marshall
I have personally worked in the gym industry for over 15 years and know what they are all about. They always want More. Management would always tell me More is better with the typical “gym.” More members. More Gyms. More of everything !!! However, with More you also get Less! Less personal, Less quality, and overall you tend to have Less interest towards accomplishing your own fitness goals. I really felt like a used car salesman when I worked at those big gyms trying to do anything to get the sale. I was really bad at it because I felt that the general public needed personal attention and not just a membership. I would spend extra time with possible members going around the gym and giving them an hour long training session for free in order to get familiar with all the equipment. Right now there is a upward trend of people who are starting to realize they need the smaller fitness centers that offer a new breed of Quality! In one of my previous blogs I write about the idea of Quality Coaching. I was personally coached by 5 of the 12 best American rowing coaches of all-time. You can read that blog by clicking on this link: My father, John Nunn, was a Bronze Medalist in Rowing at the 1968 Mexico City Summer Olympic Games. He was also the Olympic Rowing Coach for the 1976 Men’s Olympic Rowing Team so you can imagine where I absorbed some of his coaching tips and advice. His only son, Me!
With Roworx you get Quality attention, Quality instructors, and the Quality of knowledge about rowing and fitness. Where can find Olympians and National Rowing Team Coaches that coach you through a workout for an unlimited class monthly membership that costs almost as much as one typical personal training session? I honestly don’t know where you can find anything like this program in the U.S. Tennis Pros can be as much as $150 an hour and the usual price for one personal training session is around $60 an hour. We offer an unlimited class monthly membership that is around $100 a month. As many classes as you can handle trained by National Team Caliber Athletes.
It gets better though… The Boathouse Location (5750 Boathouse Lane) in Long Beach offers spectacular views of Marine Stadium, the home to 4 Summer Olympic Games. Marine Stadium in Long Beach was home to the 1932 Los Angeles Summer Olympic Games’ Rowing Course. In 1968, 1976, and 1984 Marine Stadium in Long Beach hosted the Summer Olympic Trials for all participants trying to reach the Olympic Team that year in the sport of rowing. While you are in class getting a phenomenal workout on the Concept 2 Indoor Rowing Machine you are also enjoying views of the water.
The Shox-Box system consisting of a front and rear box, moves the Concept 2 Indoor Rowing Machine vertically and laterally. With this movement, the Shox-Box system gives you a ‘real water’ feel at the front and back of the rowing machine as you roll up and down the slide while reducing bad forces on your back, knees, neck, and shoulders. Roworx uses the Shox-Box at both Boathouse and Warehouse locations in order to keep your workouts the same. This is why Roworx is unique.
Roworx offers Quality workouts backed by more than Qualified instructors that are extremely effective in getting you to accomplish your fitness goals sooner. I wish you all the best and much success in all of your fitness goals. Thank you for being such loyal members and fans to Roworx.
