Red Ace Organics Sponsors Athlete Jack Nunn
Over the years I have taken many different kinds of supplements and I’m always looking for that natural edge to help push me beyond my limits.
At my Roworx Fitness Center in Long Beach, I currently teach over 15 indoor rowing and cycling classes every week and on top of a busy schedule of operating a fitness studio I race in multiple events nearly every weekend. I was looking for a competitive edge and found that in order to be healthy and efficient in training you must consume more fruits and vegetables. Many athletes and individuals get caught up in the energy bar/energy gel world of supplements of what I call ‘synthetic energy.’ These types of bars and gels are essential to aid training with the right balance of carbohydrates and proteins however they are not the answer to finding and or creating a whole food diet. Red Ace Organics has a healthy solution in order to get the proper ‘plant based’ diet into your system that is not synthetic and will help you sustain energy in the long run instead of just being a temporary fix. One of the advantages of consuming more fruits and vegetables in your diet is the increase blood flow to the muscles. The latest sports science research has shown that achieving this effect can be simple by just adding nitrates…especially like the ones found in beets. When these nitrates enter your body, a chain reaction begins that converts them into nitric oxide (NO) – a molecule that can initiate vasodilation. This process increases the volume and speed of oxygen and nutrient delivery to the muscles, resulting in improved maximum oxygen uptake (Vo2 max). Plus, nitric oxide allows mitochondria, or energy ‘power plants’ within the muscles, to operate more efficiently, producing more energy per unit of oxygen. Over the past year since I really started taking beets along with a plant based whole food diet I noticed an increase in energy throughout the day along with some faster finishing times in my most recent triathlon, duathlon, and running competitions.
By the way, did you know that some of the highest absolute values of Vo2 max are actually found in rowers around the world?
And to prove it you can read online here… Wikipedia – Highest levels of Vo2 max
I am the owner of Roworx Fitness in Long Beach where we feature 20 indoor rowing classes every week with stunning views of the sunset overlooking Marine Stadium. Rowing is a total-body sport which builds both cardiovascular endurance and strength through repetitive resistance training. Few other sports can provide the total body benefit that rowing does. Find out how rowing can benefit your workout or click here to learn about the types of rowing you’ll find at Roworx.
Inside the boathouse, anyone can take the one-hour indoor rowing classes. These classes are usually also paired with strength training techniques in order to get the best possible workout. Meet our friendly, knowledgeable rowing instructors or check out some of our equipment. The benefits of rowing? It burns up to 800 calories an hour—that’s more than running! And, because it’s no impact, it’s easy on the knees. (Read nine more reasons to start rowing.)
The Roworx Indoor Rowing Fitness Center offers a group exercise that’s low-impact, high efficiency, and great for building strength and endurance. Roworx also utilizes the Concept2 Rowing Machine and light dumbbell weights. Our clients span all experience levels, ages and abilities. Anyone can row – you control your own pace and resistance. I also offer individual coaching for any event including triathlons, duathlons, and various running events. There are no long-term contracts! Whether you want to jumpstart your triathlon training with an expert consultation or hone your fitness with ongoing coaching, the best commitment you can make is to yourself.
Runners, cyclists, rowers, swimmers… just about any athlete is capable of working harder, or performing the same amount of work while using less oxygen, with the power of beets behind them. But don’t just take my word for it… take a look at what I have accomplished over the years. In 2008, 2009, 2012, 2014, 2015, and 2016 I have competed in 9 Full Ironman competitions in Nice, France, Florianopolis, Brazil, Cozumel, Mexico, Cairns, Australia, Mallorca, Spain, Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, Vineman, California, Kalmar, Sweden, And Vichy, France. I also won the 2015 USA National Championships In Triathlon for the overall fastest Clydesdale 220+ division in the Olympic Distance in Grand Rapids, Michigan. I have also raced in over 100 triathlon and duathlon events over the last few years. In 2017 I plan on competing in 3 more full ironman competitions including the 2nd year of the Vineman, Ironman in Napa Valley, Ca, Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, and one more that is TBA. I am on a mission to complete 12 Full Ironmans in order to try and gain entry through the Ironman Legacy Foundation into the Kona, Hawaii World Ironman Championships in 2018.
Moving forward with my training throughout 2016 and beyond it is an honor and privilege to be sponsored by Red Ace Organics.
