The 4th Annual SkiErg World Sprints will be held November 9–11, 2012. Roworx will be an official satellite location for the Concept 2 Ski Erg Sprints. Practice you skiing skills and times fat the Roworx Warehouse/Studio during class or email me for time slot and appointment at firstname.lastname@example.org from now until November 12th in order to get your personal best time!
This 1000-meter race allows you to compare your time against others worldwide in a one-weekend showdown of speed. See how you stack up before you strap on your skis for the season! The Concept2 SkiErg makes the sport of Nordic skiing available to everyone. It builds strength and endurance by working the entire body with the poling motion integral to all techniques of Nordic skiing. Each pull engages the arms, shoulders, core and legs in a downward “crunch”, using body weight to help accelerate the handles. The legs then raise the body weight on the return, providing a true full body workout. During the winter, European Olympic Rowing Athletes have turned to cross-country skiing as the perfect total-body workout in order to maintain muscle endurance and strength. In college I looked up to Marcel Hacker, A German National Team Rower, who won an Olympic Bronze Medal in 2000 and Won The World Chamionships in the single in 2002! Marcel attributes most of his off season rowing strength and endurance to cross-country skiing. Rowing is mainly 4 movements… Drive with the legs, hang with the latismus and back, finish the stroke with the arms, and then recovering up the slide for the next stroke. Cross-country Skiing works the same muscles but in the opposite direction. Start with the arms, hang with the back, finish with the legs in a squat position while pulling down with the handles, and then come up to recover fot the next pull. It is the perfect workout combined with rowing and whether you’re an elite cross-country skier looking to improve your poling power, a weekend enthusiast wanting to get into shape for the ski season, or just someone looking for a great workout, the SkiErg will help you achieve your goals.
Race 1000 meters on the Concept2 SkiErg at the Powerhouse Fitness Warehouse/Studio from now until November 9–11, 2012. Post your time to the Concept2 logbook by 5 p.m. Monday, November 12, 2012. The winners of each age group will receive a special prize (An Authentic CowBell) and this year prizes will also be awarded for the top three times in each age group! Last year Jill Ammirato and Jack Nunn won 1st place in the age divisions. Tom O’keefe came in close second and we had over 20 Roworx members participate and race in this event 🙂

We’re looking to submit 20 or more individual results from our Roworx Team and be entered in a raffle for a new SkiErg for our facility.
